The Rite of Right

I’m honoured to have another piece of writing published in the June issue of Climb Magazine. It’s about climbing the Cromlech classic Right Wall, which I managed last summer. Dan Lane took some great photos, which you can see here.

Right Wall is a route that I had wanted to climb for a long time. I had always put it off but found myself ready at the end of the 2013 summer. The history and aura that surrounds this popular route often makes ‘getting on it’ the hardest part. It’s all too easy to wait until fitness, conditions and ability improve, but I’m glad I took the leap.

Ironically, the next day I went to Rhoscolyn with Jez Hawksworth. I managed to onsight Warpath, supposedly a soft E5. I found it desperate and miles harder than Right Wall! It’s best not to become complacent...

Climb magazine is widely available throughout the UK, in all good outdoor shops. Get your copy soon, or have a look at the online version here.

As previously mentioned in my last post, Trek & Mountain magazine is currently running my article on the Cassin Ridge, Denali, as their lead feature. I feel equally privileged to have this published, and urge you to read it!
