American Direct in a Day - Les Drus

Tom Livingstone and Uisdean Hawthorn climbed the 'American Direct' route on the Petit Dru, in the Mont Blanc massif, in late August.

They climbed the route in a day, starting at 4.15am and topping out on the Grand Dru at 8.30pm. They rappelled down to the Charpoua Glacier but got off-route, finally reaching the glacier at 4am. The glacier was a jumbled mess of crevasses so they took a few hours sleep on a rock rognon before continuing to the Charpoua Refuge for the best breakfast...

Thanks to Uisdean for a great route!
