No Siesta - Grandes Jorasses

Christophe Dumarest and I climbed ‘No Siesta’ on the north face of the Grandes Jorasses in January 2022.

For Christophe and I, this was our first ‘date’ and despite the deep winter temperatures, we spent two and a half days enjoying the technical mixed climbing. Apart from a pendulum where I went the wrong way, we climbed everything free and onsight, finding the route to be good quality. The route doesn’t have many opportunities for siestas, hence the name, and we used string hammocks on both our bivies. The line was first climbed by Jan Porvaznik and Stan Glejdura in July 1986.
